This summer bring your friends and family out for the 2014 Sunset SUP Series hosted by the Blockade Runner Surf to Sound Academy. Each week will consist of a different style of racing, sure to keep local paddlers on their toes and improve their competitive advantage. Before the races, a free 10-minute lesson will be provided covering a topic pertinent to that week’s race course. Local paddlers will have the chance to learn and/or practice various race starts, turns, and paddling techniques. If improving your racing skills is one of your goals this year, then the Sunset SUP Series is going to be your best bet. It doesn’t matter if you are new to racing, either. Each week there will be two different race courses offered; one to challenge experienced racers, and another for new paddlers or recreational paddlers. Every other week will host a Kid’s race for our local groms with courses similar to the adult courses, but shorter. Even more exiting, is that the entire series is FREE. Weekly prizes will be awarded to random participants from each race, instead of the winners. That means it doesn’t matter if you come in last every week, you still have just as much chance to win as the fastest paddlers! But speed demons shouldn’t be lazy, you’ll want to put on your best performance every week to vie for the grand prize awarded at the end of the series. If all of that isn’t enough, then maybe the FREE beverages from Natty Greene’s will get you there.
Where else do you get to learn techniques, practice skills, test yourself, win prizes, and drink beer at no charge?
Every Thursday from Memorial Day to Labor Day
