This is a really cool event that I have not been home for, but everyone who helps has an absolute blast! Also, if you are in paddle group somewhere you might consider reaching out to the swimmers and tri athletes to see how you can help them with their open water swims because everyone wins!
What – Swim The Loop is a 3.5 mile open water swim race that takes place around an interior island, called Harbor Island. Theswim goes completely around Harbor Island and passes through several different waterways with a start and finish at the Dockside Restaurant.
Mott’s Channel Sprint starts at the Blockade Runner Resort, located on Wrightsville Beach, and finishes across the intracoastal atthe Dockside Restaurant on Airlie Road. The course is approximately 1.3 miles long and is a point to point swim
When – 10/11/14, race starts at 10:00. Volunteers need to check-in at Dockside at 9:00am. Please plan for 4 hours upon time of arrival of check-in and race time cut-off. So from 9:00-1:00pm.
Details – Please bring a WHISTLE and LIFE JACKET, drinks, snacks for during the the races. You will need to check in at Dockside at9:00am prior to departing to your water safety location. There will be coffee and light snacks provided before the race and then food and drinks after the race. I will be holding a race meeting about a week and a half out from the race to go over the course logistics, each water safety’s position, what to expect, the rules, and to answer any questions 🙂
