SUP-n-Surf Retreat with Sean Poynter and Ian Cairns

Sean Poynter, a two-time ISA SUP Surfing Gold Medalist, top competitor on the Stand Up World Tour, host of numerous SUP clinics, and creator of the online “SUP Surf Tips” series is now partnering with his longtime coach Ian Cairns to co-host the first-ever SUP n SURF Retreat. In addition to providing Sean’s and Ian’s expert SUP Surfing and wave knowledge, the retreat will incorporate their zestful approach to life of focusing on the present moment and enjoying those around you. Participants can expect a high-quality learning experience as well as a fantastic time. The retreat will take place at the gorgeous five-star Royal Suites by Palladium in Punta Mita, Mexico.


Ian Cairns

Ian Cairns is a former World Surfing Champion and coach of the US Standup Paddle Team that recently won Overall Gold at the 2015 ISA World Championship in Mexico. He is regarded as one of the most revered surf coaches in the world. In his more than 30 years of coaching experience, Ian has coached some of the best surfers and stand up paddlers in the world, ranging from World Surf League and Waterman League athletes to past and current champions such as Tom Curren, Sunny Garcia, Lisa Anderson, Jordy Smith, Kolohe Andino, Izzi Gomez, Sean Poynter, and Lina Augaitis, to name a few. Ian focuses on how to better read the lineups to find the best waves, paddling strategies in the lineup to take optimal advantage of the waves, and performance techniques on the waves. As an accomplished SUP surfer himself, Ian was the 2014 US O40 champion and is looking forward to riding a few waves in Punta Mita with his SUP Surf Retreat co-host Sean and their guests. It will be a huge learning experience and an unforgettable trip.
