When you buy a hat or shirt, you help support the Distressed Mullet. We are a small company with a huge love of paddle boarding. Every hat and shirt counts and we really appreciate the support.
The Mullet Trucker
I paddled all afternoon and came to a bridge where an 18-wheeler, parked on the shoulder, it’s driver hanging out of the door and over the rail. “Yo! What is that thing?!” he yelled. “A surfboard?”
“It’s a paddle board.”
“Is it hard to do?”
“Damn, son, that I want to try that some day. Walking on water ‘n crap. Looks like fun. Will it float me?”
“There are all kinds for all sizes of people and all levels. You should try it. It’d be a good change from driving. You could stick it in the back of your truck and stop for a paddle when you see a good lake.
“Maybe I will. Thanks.”
“No problem. Good luck. Safe travels. Try it.”
I was nearly under the bridge when I heard, “Oh, and Nice Hat!”
He was right. It’s a really nice hat. And you should have one.
It’s not tall like those crazy hightop top-hat truckers you’re used to. These fit. Big melon. Small melon. They fit. It’s not super high like a regular trucker, but not as low as a baseball cap. It’s the goldilocks of hats. It’s just right.
I LOVE these hats because they hold water like a sponge when you do the hat dip in the water then put them back on your head to cool off during a paddle or a race (if you didn’t know that trick, you do now.) Then they dry off relatively quickly. They are light and comfortable.
And you’ll get mad trucker respect. Word.
