The west coast is back. Pacific Paddle Games are legit and have filled that huge hole in the SUP world’s heart after the loss of the BOP. Like the phoenix, the Pacific Paddle Games rose from the ashes to light it up the paddleboarding world past weekend, showing in every facet the future of this sport. The entire planet conspired to help make this first PPG event a huge success with sun, warm water, and amazing waves at Doheny State Beach. My head is still spinning, my heart still pounding from the constant action. Stoked spectators and intense competition. It was like 2 days of emotional and physical interval training, frenetic from 6am Saturday morning until the closing ceremony at 6pm Sunday night. My heart rate won’t reach resting for at least a week.
There are more photos and videos to come, but I’m in transit back to the East Coast. To SUP the Mag and Salt Life, all the sponsors and volunteers, it was a race well run. You’ve changed the game. Thanks to Dreu Murin and Ken Hoeve for the awesome previews and recaps. You two are amazing. And thank you Andrew Mencinsky for the support.
Thank you to Salt Life for bringing this sport to a new level. For all you paddlers out there who enjoyed the broadcast and coverage, make sure to support the brands who supported the event. They made it possible this year and in the years to come.
