Have you changed boards/paddles/equipment since you started? If so, why?

Paddling for 20 years, before SUP, anything paddle!

If you could travel to anywhere in the world to paddle, where would you go?

Best piece of SUP advice you’ve ever received?

From Kim Hillhouse, “Watch out for that green buoy at Suck”… (Suck Creek on the the Chattajack course.)

Weirdest thing that’s happened to you while paddling?

Hitting a tree stump and being tossed into frigid water…did not know my ass could fly like that!

CARBOPRO fo sho.

Goals for this next year?

Training for TEAM USA Dragonboats in Moscow, World Championships!! and then I will do Chattajack 2016!! That Chattajack race is a great community of paddlers in Noogatown! If you can get there, go! Kim and Ben make the race very special and nothing I have paddled compares to the Tennessee River Gorge!! I am going to paddle the OC1 in the Carolina Cup’s Graveyard to start the 2016 season off, woohooo!!

Favorite post-paddle nosh (snack/beer/recovery drink)

Coconut Lemonaid Water to replenish, and then great food for recovery!!…if I was drinking again, a cold beer can never be beat!

Your favorite non-paddle thing to do.

If I am not having a great meal or a coffee chat with friends, riding my bike!

What piece of SUP gear do you wish someone would invent?

An espresso machine for the long races!! Adam Boothby would agree with me on this…

What’s your biggest challenge with SUP?

Coming back to the sport I love, because I took some years off after moving to Macon, Ga. from San Diego…now that we are in Atlanta, I got back to the water…..those muscles remember, but I would like to be faster…The OC1 time trial is the perfect way to establish your base and to get faster from that split!! I gotta long way to go to get back…I love being on a 14′ SUP for my size!! Finding the right one is the journey I am on…

What is your proudest moment in a SUP race or event?

Completing the CHATTAJACK 2015, and making the world championship team for Moscow in Dragonboats again…Nice to come back stronger at 51, and make the team again!

Tell us about the best friend(s) you made through SUP.

This community is my Ohana, my life, my love. My husband and I have enjoyed crossing over from cycling in 1996. We were both alternates to the 1996 Olympic Games in track cycling. We met at Olympic Trials in 1996 and the rest is history!! We have enjoyed 20 years of a paddling Ohana, and now, I have great new friends from SUP this past year!! The Chattanooga paddling pack is a great group of paddlers that are dear to my heart, Adam Boothby, Dottie B. Hodges, Hal Turner. I met Shawna De Valle last year and we trained for Chattajack 2015! She is amazing, my soul sista siren on the water. I so love love the 100/100 paddler community (on Facebook), it’s true Ohana!!
