I teach yoga and SUP Yoga.

Jane Paddler Charmaine

WHERE DO YOU SUP THE MOST?

Brevard, NC

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE LOCAL PADDLE SHOP?

D.D. Bullwinkel’s, Brevard

WHAT PADDLEBOARD, SURFSKI OR OC DO YOU RIDE MOST?

BIC Tracer 12’4″ I want to add the World Series 14′ to my collection…soon!

I have a fleet of BIC boards; 10 foot yoga boards, 11 foot cross fit to 11’6″.

WHAT PADDLE DO YOU USE?

QuickBlade Flyweight

HAVE YOU CHANGED BOARDS/PADDLES SINCE YOU STARTED? IF SO, WHY?

The first two races I was in I used a 12’6″ touring from BIC. I think I was scooping dirt from the bottom of the lake by the end of the race. Stayed with BIC but went to the carbon board. It’s just a little faster!

WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO SUP?

Fjords in Norway. My son and his wife live in Stavanger. This trip is on the radar!

BEST PIECE OF SUP ADVICE YOU’VE GOTTEN?

Take a course from American Canoe Association and learn technique.

WHAT ARE YOUR PADDLE GOALS FOR THIS YEAR?

I’m teaching SUP Yoga in Spain. Paddle more, train harder and teach this amazing sport.

WEIRDEST THING THAT’S HAPPENED TO YOU WHILE SUPPING?

Seeing 12 jet skis that looked like they came out of the Batman’s Cave speeding towards me.

FAVORITE SUP NUTRITION?

ProBar Bolt and Osmo Nutrition

FAVORITE POST-PADDLE NOSH (SNACK/BEER/RECOVERY DRINK)

The chocolate milk after Chattajack was pretty amazing…

YOUR FAVORITE NON-PADDLE THING TO DO?

Yoga and travel. Living in Western North Carolina you would think I hike…my husband and I hiked 850 miles of the AT when we got married. We’re “hiked out”.

WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE WITH SUP?

Believing in myself and taking the challenge.

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT IN A SUP RACE OR EVENT?

Teaching my 82 year old mother to paddle. She fell in and then got back up on the board. She looked at me and said, “I’m going to do this”. I should listen to my mother.

Jane Paddler Charmaine

TELL US ABOUT THE BEST FRIEND(S) YOU MADE THROUGH SUP.

My students have been such an inspiration to me and have become my friends and paddle buddies. To watch them find their confidence after paddling and doing yoga, warms my heart.

Jane Paddler Charmaine

WHAT’S YOUR BEST SUP TRAVEL TRIP?

That’s yet to come…Malaga, SPAIN June, 2016

WHAT PIECE OF SUP GEAR DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD INVENT?
