Can you describe the different races and courses?
Adirondack SUP Festival will host WPA sanctioned Long (6 mile) and short (3 mile) course races in the morning on Saturday, June 18th at Lake Colby Beach in Saranac Lake. Afternoon fun race will feature Short Sprint (all ages), Tandem Race (2 people, 1 board), and Pooch Race (1 human, 1 dog, 1 board).
What kind of paddling settings and conditions will racers face?
All races will be held on Lake Colby in Saranac Lake NY. Lake Colby is a medium sized lake with many bays and protected areas. Race will begin and end on the public beach located on the southeast shore.
Will there be any clinics and what are the details?
The day will feature a Sunrise SUP Yoga session at 8:30 am. No experience necessary to participate. Our 1, 2, 3 – SUP Introduction to SUP instruction course will get you on the fast track to SUP fun. On-water demos will be available throughout the day for those interested in finding the right board for their paddling needs.
Where can people get paddle gear like PFDs and Hydration packs?
Adirondack Lakes & Trails Outfitters, located in Saranac Lake, has been hosting the Festival for 5 years is a full service paddler’s shop and will have a beach side SUP shop set up at the event for retail sales
