Can you describe the different races and courses?

The nine mile Harbor course is the elite race that takes paddlers through the historic Charleston harbor with views of the Battery, Fort Sumter, Castle Pinckney, USS Yorktown and the Ravenel bridge.
The four mile Battery course is a sprint race along the western side of the Charleston peninsula with views of the Antebellum homes leading up to the Battery.
The one mile kids course is a spectator-friendly course visible from Brittlebank park with lots of challenging buoy turns for paddlers 12 years and younger

What kind of paddling settings and conditions will racers face?

The Harbor course will involve a combination flatwater along the Ashley river and then it open up into the Charleston Harbor where conditions can vary from flatwater to ocean chop conditions. The Battery course and the kids course generally have flatwater conditions.

What makes your event great? What will paddlers love about coming to your event?

Paddlers love the venue and the courses. The rich history of Charleston make the views from race course very exciting. After the race we have a ‘Biergarten under the pines’ along with food trucks and music. We also host the Shem Creek Shuffle Pub Crawl the evening of the race.
