Cape Story Paddle Board Race Tomorrow: Info and Weather Update

A little less than 24 hours until the 8th Annual Cape Story Paddle Race!!!

This is looking to be a much bigger event than in previous years which means a bigger donation to the Cape Kids Scholarship Fund…for that I also say thank you very very much!!

Packet pickup is this afternoon from 4-6pm at the Pier Café.  You can also pick up packets at the race on Saturday  morning.  Please do so before 8:45am.  The racers meeting is at 9:00am.

Now for some details about the event:

Weather: Weather is looking great, winds out of the south around 9mph and warm.  The high Saturday is 92 and we expect temps in the mid 80s during the races so PLEASE plan accordingly.  Hydrate the day before, bring more fluids then you think you need and something for shade helps too.  If you have a pop-up tent please consider bringing it.  We plan to have everyone set their pop-ups next to each other to make a little tent-city.  Great for shade during awards and very festive too!!

Time-Line: Because of the warm weather we moved everything up 30 minutes.  There are still a few spots left in both Friday and Sunday clinics.  If you want to sign up just let me know.

Parking:

Parking is pretty open.  The only place you CAN NOT park is anything that is marked for the fishing pier. If it is parking for the Lynnhaven Fishing Pier, DO NOT park there, they will tow you with no warning.  You should be able to drop off at the pier and then find street parking nearby.

Food and such:

Water and Kill Cliff will be provided at the finish line for all events.  The race is not providing food but there are a ton of nearby options.  Pier Café which is one of our sponsors will be open for business at 8:30am and they make some great post-race food.  Try the  Calamari, it’s the bomb.com. There is a 7-11, a Dunkin Donuts, and several local eateries that are supporting the race within 1.5 miles that have great food and great breakfast.  Citrus Café and Simple Eats are sponsors.  Lynnhaven Coffee Company is right across the street from the race and makes starbucks look like gas-station coffee.

Again, thank you for helping to make this event successful.  The Race Director, Bill House, has put a tremendous amount of work into growing this race.  It is going to be an excellent event and I am super stoked!!
