Do you have a favorite local paddleboard shop?

Capital SUP in Maryland, and Idaho River Sports in Boise.

What paddleboard, surfski or OC do you ride most?

12’6″ Rogue

Do you own any other paddleboards, surfskis or OCs and what kind?

Evolve Panther

What paddle do you use?

Carbon fiber Evolve

Have you changed boards/paddles/equipment since you started? If so, why?

Yes, started with a good ole rec board from West Marine, then upgraded to a 27″ Evolve race board when I started racing. Now have move on to a 24″ Rogue because of the lower volume and width.

If you could travel to anywhere in the world to paddle, where would you go?

Tahiti

Best piece of SUP advice you’ve ever received?

Take the opportunity to participate in as many clinics as you can. Each pro has something different to offer, and I guarantee you’ll walk away with at least one new thing you can apply to improve your technique.

Weirdest thing that’s happened to you while paddling?

I would have to say the conversations during the Wye Island 13.1 with Michaela and Mary. All topics were fair game.

Favorite SUP nutrition? (During races/ during a long haul)

I love my Infinit Nutrition. Used it while training as well as for races, including Chattajack.

Goals for this next year?

To check out the Boise paddle scene and try my hand at whitewater SUP.

Favorite post-paddle nosh (snack/beer/recovery drink)

A nice cold beer and a cheeseburger.

Your favorite non-paddle thing to do.

Working out and riding horses.

What’s your biggest challenge with SUP?

Finding the time to train as much as I would like.

What is your proudest moment in a SUP race or event?

Finishing Chattajack

Tell us about the best friend(s) you made through paddling.

Most of my best friends I have met through paddling. In fact, they are more like family. You get to know each other quickly when you spend hours/days crammed into cars/RVs/houses. It feels like I have known them forever. They push me to be not only a better paddler, but person off the water as well. Big shout out to my girls, Air Mary and ZBrah who always have my back!

Rincon, Puerto Rico for the Rincon Beachboy SUP race
