New Mullet Correspondents: Welcome Aboard, Harrison and Jules!

The Mullet Family just got bigger!!

We are so stoked to announce that two fresh voices will now be regularly heard here on the Distressed Mullet. Harrison Deisroth and Julieta (Jules) Gismondi are coming on board as of this month.  Harrison will be helping us cover all things OC and Jules is going to be our Northeast correspondent. We’ve long been a fan of these two – Harrison has made his mark on the paddle scene in Wrightsville Beach, NC and at age 16 is already an accomplished OC paddler with several Molokai to Oahu crossings under his ama.  Jules is half of the Atlantic SUPerGirls dynamic duo, along with LouAnn Harris, who captured the sup world’s collective heart when they paddled the length of the Eastern Seaboard last winter.

Here’s more on Harrison, from his bio:

My name is Harrison Deisroth and I am 16 years old. I am a proud military brat, and have recently moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. Paddling is my passion, as well as racing, coaching, traveling, meeting new people, and sharing my experiences with others. I am summoned by the sea; the ocean is where I am free.”

Don’t worry, we’ll make sure his Mullet duties don’t interfere with Harrison’s school work!!

And Jules:

Born and raised in Buenos Aires , Argentina, Jules grew up sculling and kayaking from a young age. Her passion for the water and the lifestyle came with her when she moved to New York City early 2005. It was in the Big Apple where she dove in head first in the watersports industry becoming a certified guide and instructor at Manhattan Kayak Company at age 19. A decade later, she ventured into her first solo, unsupported expedition when she paddleboarded around Long Island. A trip that would be the tip of the iceberg. Six months later, together with LouAnne Harris they paddled 1500 miles from NYC to Miami on, again, an unsupported expedition by SUP, becoming the Atlantic SUPergirls. Lover of all human powered water crafts, she kayaks, surfskis, prone and stand up paddles and well as canoes and still sculls once in a while.

Harrison has already helped us expand our OC race calendar. And we know both of these two are going to add more richness to the content we bringing you here, just as they add richness to all the lives they touch!  Watch for their bylines!
