De Zwart Makes Record  Attempt in Switzerland

Distance paddler Bart De Zwart broke the male 24 hour world distance record for miles paddled on flatwater, after 23 hours and 56 minutes he logged a final distance of 193.8 km or 120.42 miles.

He started yesterday, May 29 at  5:38 pm local time on Lake Biel in Switzerland, paddling the Starboard Sprint Unlimited.

According to De Zwart support team member Joanne Hamilton-Vale, who broke the women’s record  and edged out the new flatwater record set earlier this year by Robert Norman in Florida, De Zwart battled stormy conditions during much of his time on the water but was able to keep a good pace and his heart rate low.

Congrats Bart!!
