Can you describe the different races and courses?

Paddlers will have the opportunity to take on three unique courses on waterways in the Greater Louisville Area: The Westport to Downtown Louisville 22 Mile Race, 7 Mile Captains Quarters to Downtown Open Race, & the Harrods Creek Run 2.5 Mile Run. Race classes will consist of men, women's, and youth Kentucky Waterman Series divisions which include Prone, SUP 14, SUP 12'6 , Kayak, High Performance Kayak, Solo Canoe, Tandem Kayak, and Tandem Canoe.

What kind of paddling settings and conditions will racers face?

The Ohio River is a major commercial waterway. There will be barge traffic, pleasure boats, and can have winds/waves at times.

What makes your event great? What will paddlers love about coming to your event?

Great Kentucky hospitality, being apart of an emerging racing scene, and of course bourbon!

Wilderness Louisville.  The primary focus of Wilderness Louisville is to raise funds and advocate for improvements at Jefferson Memorial Forest and within other natural areas managed by the Natural Areas Division of Louisville Metro Parks & Recreation.

Ohio River Paddlefest Races

Bring your SUP, kayak, canoe, tandem, or prone and join Adventure Crew, The Explore Kentucky Initiative, Stand Up Paddle Cincinnati, at the Ohio River Paddlefest. Racers will be a part of the nation's largest paddling celebration, leading over 2,000 recreational paddlers down a closed course on the Ohio River, passing through downtown Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Race entry includes all Ohio River Paddlefest perks, like free shuttles, and invitation to the Outdoors for All Expo on Friday, August 4. Paddlefest races are part of The Waterman Series and the Midwest Paddle League. All proceeds from Paddlefest, including the races, support Adventure Crew and their work with 27 schools and hundreds city teens, exposing them to regular outdoor recreation at no-cost to students. Paddlefest races will follow the classifications outlined below for paddlecraft with youth, mens, and womens divisions.
