Paddler Gift Guide 2017 Part II
This is Part II of a multi-part series offering some suggesting for that paddler in your life, or for your own holiday wish list. Some of these suggestions are new versions of a tried and true product, while others come with a great pedigree of quality.
Olukai is one of our all-time favorite brands of shows and they have some great recommendations for paddlers, including these models:
Kipuka— Super supportive, great for easy on and off, lightweight so won’t weigh down the bow of the board.
Kia’I Wahine— More rugged flip-flop with super durable outsole and waterproof straps.
‘Eleu Trainer— Perfect for Fall/Winter SUPing, waterproof, drainage ports for when your feet do get wet, super quick drying and really grippy on wet surfaces.
We’ve been big fans of HydroFlask for years. And now, you can personalize these great insulated bottles with the new My Hydro line. That means you can give that paddler on your list a HydroFlask bottle to match his or her board. It’s a neat idea! Here are the details:
My Hydro is a first-of-its-kind bottle customization program that offers customers the ability to personalize their very own Hydro Flask bottle from top to bottom. The My Hydro collection includes seven Wide Mouth bottle sizes and four Standard Mouth bottle sizes, ranging from 12 oz (perfect for little hands) up to 64 oz for all-day adventuring. Customers can choose one of 17 hues for the strap, cap, bottle and My Hydro exclusive silicone boot in their favorite colors – or match their workout gear, alma mater, top sports team and more (there are over 200,000 different color combos). Plus, TempShield™ double wall insulation keeps their water refreshingly ice cold for up to 24 hours, or piping hot up to 12. MSRP ranges from $34 – $78.
There’s also the Limited Edition Atmosphere Collection available online through the holidays with featuring a translucent Flex Strap and silicone boot in four fun hues: Twilight, Sunrise, Aurora and Sky (pictured, left to right). Big enough for whatever adventure your day holds, our 32 oz Wide Mouth Bottle is made with professional-grade stainless steel and a wider opening for a faster fill. And because it’s designed with TempShield™ double wall insulation, it keeps your hot water hot up to 12 hours or ice water refreshingly ice cold up to 24.
Banx Block Sunscreen
We have written a lot about this reef-safe product because of its effectiveness and the fact that it goes on easy and stays on. The stick version would make a stocking stuffer, or go big and give the family a large bottle!
Another of our favorite skin care companies is All Good. They make a 30SPF sunscreen stick that we like because, while being zinc-based and reef safe, it truly goes on clear. And, there’s a coconut version that smells wonderful.
Just in time for the holidays, they have a gift set of some of their best sun protection offerings that includes:
• Sunscreen Butter SPF 50+: designe for ultimate conditions like high elevation and long hours spent on the water or in the wind, this formula is made with only five organic ingredients plus zinc oxide so it’s safe for the most sensitive skin. The 1oz tin will easily fit into a jacket pocket or in a small bag.
• Sport Sunscreen SPF 30: goes on smooth, rubs in clear with no sticky residue, this sport lotion is great for all over everyday wear.
• Sunstick SPF 30: a daily go-to sunscreen for face, neck, ears, head and more (especially great for the airplane window seat)! The Sunstick fits in any pocket.
• Organic SPF 20 Lip Balm: whether you need a little hydration or a lot of sun protection, this organic lip balm goes on silky smooth and protects all day.
For after being in the sun, we love Organic Coconut Oil Skin Food. It soothes and heals dry, tired, skin after a day of being in the sun and wind. It’s a fantastic moisturizer.
And of course for those inevitable cuts and scrapes, or post paddle blisters or chapped lips, you cannot beat the All Good Goop healing balm. Both of these products would be a much appreciated stocking stuffer.
Stayed tuned for Part III of the Distressed Mullet Holiday Gift Guide, which will feature boards and books! Part I is here.
