About Our Paddlers Survey
A member of the Paddle Monster community who lives outside of New York City has asked that we run a survey to help him with a local problem.
This survey was prompted by his efforts to get his local parks & rec department to allow paddleboarders on one of the nearby lakes. (Still hard for us to believe that kayaks are ok but somehow SUPs were left off the list).
Interestingly though, we know of at least two other people who are trying to accomplish similar things where they paddle. There are probably more.
Our thinking is that paddleboarders are all (ok, mostly) great people. He somehow needs to prove that to his town board. This survey is an attempt to show them that we’re “desirable”.
But even beyond solving this problem, it is important to Paddle Monster to understand who we are as paddlers and therefore can help us all growing this sport.
A lot has changed, and more specifically in the last year. The sport has changed, our habits have changed, and it’s time to get reacquainted with who we are now.
This survey, it’s easy. It’s quick. And we’ll publish the results so we can all know more about what we learned. Plus, it might help convince a local government to open up a lake to more paddlers, which is pretty cool too.
