Bear Mountain Paddle for Puerto Rico
May 16, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm EDT
RACE DATE UPDATE: (March 21st Date Reschedule)
This is a fundraising paddle for Angelitos de Amor Salon, a charity in Puerto Rico that was affected by the recent earthquakes. This event funds this charity, along with Hudson Valley H2O. This is a cold-water race (wetsuit or drysuit required) through the scenic Hudson Highlands. There are three competitive races, 1 mile, 3 miles, and a 7.3-mile race to the Bear Mountain Bridge. For this who just want to see the scenery, we have a guided paddle of the 7.3-mile course with local history.
The event begins at 9 AM and we shove off at 10. There will be festivities and a DJ at the main event. After the race, participants can join us for a party at a local eating establishment.
Hudson Valley H2O (HVH2O) is a nonprofit dedicated to creating a paddling and environmental education center on the Peekskill waterfront. Our goal is to provide paddleboard and kayak access to everyone, regardless of income. Long term, we wish to create a waterside environmental education center for all.
